There's a connection all right. The more resource-strapped you are too. I often get rid of the mixer graphic to free up things when loaded down. Reatune can tax things too. If I use it, I usually "apply fx" to new track then dump the one with reatune on it. The above frees up resources. May seem a silly way but that's what I do. Jim P. .

Reatune causes me crackles as well, but I don't think it did when I first started using it. I wonder if it doesn't crackle with an older version of Reaper, hmm. Oh well, I won't be investigating because I just bought Strobosoft Deluxe, and it doesn't crackle. :)
I used to use Reatune for guitar tuning, and got the crackles as well. Make sure to increase the window size for easier bass guitar tuning. It works for sure, but kinda annoying.... Here's an alternative. Not a plugin, however it's more accurate, and cheap: Been using the TB Strobe Tuner demo with an old usb interface. I run it in the background and use it exclusively for tuning. The demo is the BEST FREE virtual tuner I've found (tried them all). I think I'm gonna buy the full version. Wish it was a plugin (not a big deal really). Googling for the link is on you. :) Check it!
