Remove Split "S"

Once I mark a audio prase using "S" to set a split, (other than un do) how do I then remove the split if I do not want the split? I know how to move the split in time to a new location I just can't remove the split after setting it with "S".

Select both sections and try pressing G for glue?

I just heal the splits. On my system I just press H. It might be mapped to something else, or nothing at all. I can't remember.

Select both sections, right click, "heal splits in items."

Now that we're on the subject, can somebody please explain under what circumstances 'heal' splits will not work? I've often snapped to two sides together and select heal, and the split is not healed. If I knew the rules, I would play by them. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
