VOBS or vob files? You can have up to 99 vobs per titleset. The extra chapters are caused by the cell structure. Each cell is considered a chapter when creating ifo's with IfoEdit. On authored DVDs quite often a chapter will include more than one cell. You can edit the PTT later to reduce the number of chapters by removing entries that should not be chapters.
I asked "VOBS or vob files?" A vob is all the cells with the same VobID, and there may be 99 per titleset. There may be only 9 files that contain them (vob files). Now, I'm assuming scorpio66 meant vob files, and his 11 files definitely is a problem, and probably the reason the playback stopped at 80%.
Yes, I did mean VOB files. I started over again, this time, I used DVD2ONE to take the 6 original VOB files with 12 chapters each, down to 5 VOB files each. So now at 10 total VOB files, I thought I would be ok. However, after joining with VOBedit, I end up with 9 VOB files, but 32 chapters. 8 more chapters than I thought I should have. The good news is, it does play to the end with no hangups. Time to manually edit... Thanks, Scorpio61, 66, whatever it takes. :)
scorpio61 has repeatedly said he used VOBedit to join the VOBs, theres the Extra Chapters BUG. VOBedit used in JoinClips mode will Automatically increase the VOB ID counter upon loading the next VOB. Which will translate into extra chapters using IFOedit to CreateIFO's, when you choose - Create 1 PGC. Since you will have as many extra chapters as you have VOBS. Hopefully, I will finish a little tool to help overcome this problem. A simple fix, is to append all the VOBs together into 1 massive VOB, then use IFOedit to create your IFO, it will cut the output VOBS to 1 gb in size. Hope your on a NTFS file system. VidHack
Not a bug, it is intentional. It's just that this use (joining sides) was not foreseen. You can either join the vob into a huge one, as suggested, or split it by VobID before joining clips. But it is also true that multi-cell chapters will become additional chapters.

Actually, I had 8 extra chapters.. which doesn't correlate to the number of VOB files. Perhaps I will re-rip the disc and just create on file. Then join the two files, which should result in only one extra chapter. Hopefully removing that one chapter would be easier than removing 8 chapters. Any idea when your tool will be ready? Thanks, Scorp!
The trick to make this work is to insure you only feed VOBedit 1 single massive VOB. If you rip the movie down as 1 massive VOB, set the output size to some huge number (Say 8gb). For example, use Vstrip, set size to 8gb, then rip. Or use vStrip after you ripped it to your drive, just use it in APPEND mode to join all the vobs of the titleset into 1 massive one. Just load up the VOBS you need to join - then APPEND. It will output 1 massive sized VOB. You then feed that VOB into VOBedit. You see, now that you feed it only 1 VOB, you wont get any fake / wrong chapter points added. VidHack
