Hi. I know that there are several posts related to this issue but they don't describe my problem (at least the ones I've seen that are a lot). I have used dvd2svcd to generate the corresponding cue/bin files. I can create the CD-R using VCDEasy but when I try to play back the CD-R with WinDVD, nothing happens. If you look at the CD-R, you can find the complete structure of the SVCD and even you can play the mpeg2 file with WinDVD but it seems that WinDVD doesn't recognize the SVCD structure. However, if I mount the cue/bin files into the virtual drive of Daemon Tools, WinDVD plays it fine and does recognize the SVCD structure (I can play with audio, chapters, etc). If I use the fault proof method of mounting the files in the virtual drive of Daemon Tools and disc copying with Nero or similar I get the same result: the CD-R seems to be perfect (all the structure and files) but WinDVD doesn't play it. Pentium IIIm Windows XP SP-1 Combo DVD/CDRW SONY CRX 810E (Atapi). Firmware 1.4c Aspi from Adaptec v. 4.71 Basic version of Easy CD Creator installed v. 5.3.2.34a Any help will be welcome. Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by burning it with VCDeasy? I assume you use it as gui for cdrdao? Odd, because i frequently do the very same, and I have no trouble whatsoever. WINDVD (Version?) points to the right drive? After all, you made it see the daemontool. Have you ever tried it on a Win + vcdeasy installation only (assume you have means to store current HD somewhere) I remember Easy CD Creator to be a nuissance driver wise... Good

Thanks for your answer. Exactly, I use VCDEasy as gui for CDRDAO. Version of WinDVD is 3.0. I imagine that WinDVD works well with the player because I have not problems when it plays a DVD. I can't understand this behavior because: - It's clear that this version of WinDVD handles the SVCD structure because it does it with the Daemon. - The cue/bin files seems to be good because they work well with Daemon. - WinDVD is able to handle the player because it does it with DVDs. I can only think that something is wrong with the CD-R once it has been burnt. I said that the file structure etc. is the same that the one in the virtual drive of daemon but perhaps there is something different related to the physical issues of the burn process (tracks, etc: I don't know anything about it) (but again I think that the MPEG2 file works). Or perhaps the driver that VCDEasy uses doesn't do a good job (generic mmc) with my recorder. I haven't tried with Win+vcdeasy only but I don't have such a means. Thanks again.

I do believe you can do this: just mount the bin/cue in Daemon, fire up Adaptec and do a CD copy.

Thanks for your suggestion BarryMurphy! In fact, what I have from Adaptec is only the aspi layer and seems to work properly although VCDEasy says that doesn't seem to be good. I have read some posts from people with the same version of aspi layer, same message from VCDEasy and they have no problems. I have tried the solution of mounting in Daemon and burning with Nero, some other copiers and even ECDC but it doesn't work. The result is the same: a CD-R with the same files as the image in Daemon but WinDVD is unable to play the SVCD from the disk (it does from Daemon).

Update your Aspi! VCDeasy likes my layer! My point is, it SHOULD work then. Now if it doesn't, my first suspect would be the CD. Does it play in a standalone...? And how about this: Create an image of the burned CD-R (with VCDeasy or CloneCD) and mount that with Daemon again. Will it play again? Also, try using Nero with just "burn image" with the cue files.
