I have a 1989 740 turbo auto/4 cylinder: engines rebuilt and turbos replaced My car starts up for about 5-10 mins and dies out the rest of the day. It'll start up the next day though i'm confused? I do not get spark after the car dies out. i'm getting fuel, battery is good, cranks up good, I've replace the ignition module and coil, starter, alternator, fuel pump & filter, spark plugs. I read about a radio suppression relay and a ecu, em i going on the right path to getting the car back? any suggestion will be appreciated thanks in advance Sam

I would suspect that as the problem occurs after a few minutes from a cold start that it could be related to the coolant temperature sensor. The Ecu gives more fuel if the coolant is cold (choke) and leans the mixture out as the coolant warms up, if this sensor is faulty then it could be giving a bad reading (ie. the ecu is choking the engine) and as the engine warms up it richens out and eventually floods. Try changing the coolant temp sensor.

Its under the inlet manifold screwed into the cylinder head, I'm not too sure but there may be a knock sensor under there too, so dont unscrew that (the knock sensor has a diaganol socket whereas the coolant sensor socket is perpendicular to the head) undo the litte multiplug thing and unbolt it, it may be in very tight so be careful not to round it off. you will have to top the coolant up and sqeeze the air out after this.
