I cannot figure out how to automate a section through the master to turn the EQ on for just a few bars then off. I'm seeing tutorials for every other kinda of automation but not for what I need... Please help.
Btw, you can automate just about any parameter on your plugins by moving the parameter you want to envelope, and clicking the parameter button in the fx window above the vst. Then choose " show track envelope".

I think I understand exactly what you are trying to do, I do this all the time. I'm not at my computer, but I'll try to give you some thorough instructions: 1. Insert ReaEQ on the master track 2. Select band 1 in ReaEQ and set the type to band pass filter 3. Click "trim" on the master track and create automation lanes for two of the parameters: "band 1 frequency" and "wet" 4. You can automate the frequency parameter to make the "swoosh" go up and down, and you automate the "wet" parameter to make the eq fade out when the effect is done. You can make both envelopes take a ramp shape (fade in/fade out). You hold shift and click on the envelopes to make points, and any point can be moved left-right and up-down. Points can't pass each other. Alternatively, you can hold ctrl (cmd on a Mac) and click and drag on the envelope to "draw" in the shape you want the envelope to take. Hope that helps. Let us know if you need more help!
Thanks for the replay, I have it figured out for the most part. I would like it to fade in slower still, even with the envelope fade in it still cuts back in a little fast.
Hey man. That intro was fucking dope. I could listen to a whole song like that with no drums. Atmospheric metal is Deffinitly something I'm willing to listen to.
