Hi all! I'm quite new to the matter and I'd like some advice as regard a free and simple sw, working with formats avi, mpeg and wmv to: 1- trim (cut pieces from) a selection 2- join (append) more clips into one. I'm searching for light sw that does them both quickly, i.e. without long recoding or other processing and/or the need to set many "strange" parameters. Thanks a lot for any suggestion :)

for avi files this could be virtualdub (free), for mpeg there is videoredo (not free), no clue about wmv.

Hi! 1) An alternative for processing MPEG files would be "TMPGEnc" 2) I've got to believe that the Microsoft freebie, "MovieMaker" can handle your ".WMV" needs

@Fitter: I have been looking for a long time for something that can handle avi files in a 'direct stream copy' fashion (similar to the way Womble handles MPEG-1/-2 files), with support for AC3 or mp3. I did come across a program (for AVI + mp3) called AviTricks. It works for the most part, but is a bit buggy (crashes here and there). Wouldn't recommend it for a large project (which is what I would want!!). Pity I haven't seen anything that supports AC3 in AVI yet... If you are about to reply to this thread with the words 'Adobe Premier', don't even bother. I'm not going to wait 5-10 minutes for each 40min episode of something i want to clip bits out of (to make a trailer) so premiere can make a 'conformed' audio format...think of it in terms of 22 episodes per season and i have to wait for this to happen evn if i only want like 1 second from an episode. :(
