How do you guys do to work with templates with PT on pc ? I made my template ... that's fine but the audio is always put in the same folder. Try it for yourself, new session ... you save it then in the file properties, you make the file a read only file, you have your template. The problem is that when you base a new session on this template, the audio (disk allocation) will always be in the template folder. That's a difficult one to explain ... let me know your experience. Thanks for yor time

Yeah the way templates work in the PC is really annoying unfortunately it doesn't work like it does on a Mac. On a Mac if you tag a session as a 'Stationary Pad' then when you open it you get asked if you want to edit it or create a new session based on that template. When you choose new template it creates a new folder for the tune, and correctly sets the disk allocation. One work around on the PC is to open your template session then do a save session copy in ... and open the copy, however still double check your disk allocation but it usually gets set correctly that way. Cheers, Marcus
In other words, templates are pretty broken on Windows. I'm new with PTLE, and I was wondering if I was the only person who thought templates were lame. Nope. Maybe they'll make more sense in 6.1?
thanks for the tips, I'll try the way you propose. You're right, in the mac environnement, it is so much easier to use templates (stationnery pads). I was wondering if I was making something wrong on my PC version of PT. Unfortunately, I think it is not a matter of PT version but it is more depending windows works to handle read only files ....
After you make your template, open it - and before you do anything, "save session as" and name it something else. This will basically start a new session with the same setup as the template. Give it a try and see if that works for you. Peace! D-
I tried both ways, save session copy in and save session as .... it looks like the only way to have a new audio files folder created is to use the save session copy in command. When you do a save session as, you keep on using the original audio files folder created when you first made your template.
