I'm looking at the 2.0D model. Can you offer any advice about buying this model? Is there any problems that are prone to failure on V50's or common parts that need replacing and should be checked when viewing this vehicle? All info is much appreciated, Best Regards, George.

I've done nearly 90k in mine now and none of the 'common' problems have occurred except a leaky rear washer jet on the tailgate and a creaky drivers seat. The most common probelms are probably related to engine management issues, specifically the EGR valve, which is a pretty common problem on most modern diesels. Parts replaced on mine have been limited to service items at the usual intervals and I've put new discs on it at the fornt at 65k. The leather and paintwork cleans up like new so they're very durable cars. I'm thinking of selling mine for something bigger and I can honestly say that it's been one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned and one of the most comfortable, from a drivers perspective. Hi George Just paid the deposit on an 05 plate V50 2.0 SE(EURO111) at our local Volvo dealer. Wife fell in love with it at first sight! Looked extensively on the Internet for reviews. Tried Jermey Clarkson's but prefered the answers to his from the real V50 drivers. Experience in life has proved that whatever you decide to invest in, some will love it and some will hate it, and nothing is ever perfect except your children and grandchildren! Nothing will ever give the true qualities or value of something except by owning and using it. Hope you find your best solution. Ralf
