Is there a way to add points at the selection edge? I'd like to left drag to make a selection, then have 2 point added to the volume envelope AT the area selection edges. I couldn't find anything relevant in the actions list. Maybe I'm not looking for the right thing?
Figured it out. I mix Hip-Hop and was looking for a way to assist in taking down the breath noises in the vocals. I do this manually right now, having to add points in the volume envelope. The custom action I created adds 2 points at the beginning and end of the time selection: The action:Go to end of time selection Envelope: Insert new point at current position Go to start of time selection Envelope: Insert new point at current position
I do things like that in audition as an ext. editor... of course you'd have to have audition, but it's very nice for that sort of work and very fast... still it's good that reaper can do it also a few ways... you could also split the wav at 'those' places and just use the volume know on each resulting media item...
GRRR - lost my reply because of forum maintenance. That only happens EVERY time I try to help here.... anyway Here's what I do for this using just 1 mouse modifier change. Make a time selection, and pull up or down on the envelope line. 4 points are automatically made at the edges. Could not be easier, completely intuitive.

Oh and the other way I deal with breaths, or general 'clip gain' tasks 2 simple custom actions, one for 2dB down and another for 2dB up on the selected area of the selected item. Assigned to , and . respectively.
Epic, thanks for the suggestions above. The mouse modifiers one I just recently discovered, and its very helpful. What I find necessary for breath noises isn't just a "straight bar" line segment of the vol envelope being moved down, but the preceding and trailing "ramps", so as to have a smooth transition in the sound. Any alternate ideas on this?
