I'm getting spikes (lots of them) when consolidating files, also when using the save as copy command. These seem to appear in different places each time(i.e. not at edit points) System is HD2, OSX2.6, PT6.1, G4/933 w768ram. This happens on all drives, even the internal one. Any ideas?

I would think this is a hard drive issue.. try setting your allocation to another hard drive or copy to another hard drive to see if it's the destination or the source drive. There have been prior threads where users have had drives with read errors causing this type of behaviour. Rail

I vote RAM. I had the exact same problem years ago and it turned out to be bad memory. Yank out one stick at a time until you isolate the bad one.
