Sorry if this is a too long message, I am not used so much with forums: I have used DVDSchrinck successfully to rip and burn DVDs but when I try to manage with my own DVDs recorded with my Philips DVDR 880 desk recorder I get the error "DVD Shrinck encountered an error in "unknown", the program will stop" This kind of problem remains even if I first ripped the DVD with DVDdecrypter and then use DVDShrinck on the ripped files. To be noticed : with InstantDVD I cannot copy these Philips recorded DVD and get an error "access violation at adress 08573E13 in module VOBSRC.AX Read of adress FFFFFFF" When I rip such DVD with Davideo2 I get a message " this DVD does not fulfill the DVD standard" but I can however rip and code to CDVD. Any idea if this Philips is not recording in conformance with DVD standard or any idea for solution ?

Welcome to the forum! I don't have your answer, but since this has been on the board for over 24 hours without a response in Newbies, I'll now send it to the One Click forum where you'll get some looks from the guys who work with this program more frequently. Good luck! ammck55

Here's what a guy from Philips said: "This is a known issue which is already solved. The problem was, that 3 ECC blocks after the VOB files, but before the VTSI BUP files are left blank. This is not a problem for playback, but 1 to 1 copying cannot be done easily..." You must copy the files from the DVD to a directory on your harddisc, then use IFOEdit , VOB Extras to correct VOB files. Close and reopen IFOEdit und recreate IFO files via GET VTS Sectors. Takes some time but afterwards you should be able to to whatever you want with the files. Good luck Alex

Hi all. :) Thanks for the fix, alexM. :) If you don't mind, I'd like to copy it to post it at the DVD Shrink official forums (and give you credit for it obviously).
