Hi again, I own the Mesa Boogie Triaxis and currently have it's "record" outputs connected to inputs 5 and 6 on the 001. I don't like what I get. It sounds muddy. I hear only great things about the triaxis, but at least with this approach, I am unssatisfied. Does anyone else use the Triaxis? If so, direct? Any tips? Are the 5-6 inputs worse than the 1-2? Help would be appreciated.

I've used the triaxis for many sessions using only the recording outs. The key is to use a lot more high end on your patches than you would normally. The recording outs have a pretty bassy sound, but the sounds are great once you get used to how to set it for recording. You can also eq after you record and again I would add more highs and in some cases thin the mids. I've been able to get great rock sounds quickly with this unit. Hope that helps

I have used the tri-axis for years now. I tried what you are attempting to do and also was dissatified. I didn't even get off on the mic'd amp sound (even though I love it and use it exclusively live). I ended up going through a Chunky tube head (ever heard of them?). Anyways, Try the EQ thing that msumj suggested. you may have to change your presets drastically. If these are not keeper tracks then using the POD is a good alternative for direct input guitar sounds. Most people like at least a couple of the POD sounds. DRS
