MOTU and ProTools

I would like some help in setting up my 001 with a MOTU Digital Timepiece. I need to be able to synchronize a ProTools session with a videotape striped with SMPTE time code. I know that the DTP will convert the SMPTE to MTC, but how do I feed MTC to ProTools? How do I resolve ProTools to the DTP? What software do I need to use (i.e. do I need FreeMIDI or can OMS do the job)? What kind of session setup should I have? I'm using a G4/450, ProTools LE 5.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry, but PT 5.1 LE is not SMPTE capable. SMPTE functions were deleted from the LE versions and are now only included in TDM versions. Digi does provide a method for spotting in the manual however, by using a conversion from SMPTE to realtime; ie. hh/mm/ss/ff.

Sure you can. What is not featured in PTLE is a SMPTE ruler (and related hardware input&output TC options). As far as receiving SMPTE from videotape, converting this to MTC for input in PT, this should perfectly work. I used to do that more than 5 years ago with 8 tracks analog recorder along with Cubase. So... Concerning the procedure, I can only give you a general idea, since I haven't been doing this for a long time... : connect Midi out of your DTP to the 001 Midi in; I don't think you'll need any extra soft./app.others than OMS; in PT's Session Setup Window (apple+2), I suppose you'll have to make sure your 001 sync. isn't set to Internal (the other options are optical&SPDIF if I recall...) and you should also be able to choose MTC as your time reference (but I don't remember where you do that...sorry->check the manual or wait for a more precise answer).
