Just wondering which codec AND what settings to use to create a video stream that I can mux with mp4creator and make it useable in QT6? (Or should I use some completely different compressor?) I've tried some setting but apparently I don't get it right, when I fire up the movie in QT6 it complains about the video "contains sprites" and cannot be played back... Anders.

Hm I guess QT6 is reading the profile information at the start of the file, and something (mp4creator? an old XviD version?) wrote a generic header with everything enabled. I can only suggest trying the most recent unstable build, as I know suxen_drol implemented some fixes a while back to enable QT6 compatibility. -h
So far I've "only" tried with DivX Pro 5.0.2, and as I said, all three checkboxes cleared. After that I used mp4creator60 (build 0.9.7 from RareWares) to make the mp4 file. I also added an AAC audio stream with the same mp4creator, then I ran the shebang with -optimize... Finally I opened the files in mp4UI and altered the audio stream ID to be 64 (0x0f). Still I get the "QuickTime does not support sprites" error message.. Now I downloaded XviD 27.11.2002.0020 from uManiac's site, but I'm not at all familiar with the compressor, so any tips on how to configure it would be appreciated! Later, Anders.
I would try the same mp4 but w/o audio to see if QT6 can accept it, and/or encode audio to MPEG4 AAC using aacenc_mpeg4 or Nero plugin (if you previously encoded it with MPEG2 version). edit: nevermind, seems that 'sprites' error caused by GMC indeed (with both divx and xvid).

Thanks a lot, all of you... I haven't found *what* was wrong, but now it suddenly worked... I've used the same compressor settings as I mentioned above, I encoded the audio as before (PsyTEL AACenc 2.15 and AAC Machine). I also muxed exactly the same way, and changed audio stream ID to 0x0f.... Really weird!! It was also the precisely the same audio and video streams that I began with... Kinda makes you wonder... Are there such things as computer Trolls? *lo* Anders.
I dunno if I should pay any attention to the following message, but perhaps someone here at least knows what it means? D:\Movies\Work>mp4creator60 -rate=29.97 -c=test.avi test.mp4 mp4creator60: Warning: no Visual Object Sequence Start (VOSH) header found in MPEG-4 video. This can cause problems with players other than mp4player included with this package. mp4creator60: Warning: no Visual Object start header found in MPEG-4 video. This can cause problems with players other than mp4player included with this package. Any ideas about what this is? (mp4creator60 build 0.9.7 from RareWares) Anders.
Hi, I use this method: I create an AVI Divx-Xvid file. No Bframes, GMC or QPel (because Quck time 6 doesn't support any of them). Only Psychovisual if I want. I don't use the "Make MP4 file" from Divx codec because many MP4 players don't support it (I really don't know why). I create the Audio file: MP3 or Psytel MPEG4 AAC (LOW COMPLEXITY else QT6 won't play it). Mux all toghether using Mp4UI.
