are media ideas always tied to the color of the track

i typically uses colors to "mark" specific media events and define section and a in general keep track of something "special" and i love how reaper colors the tracks , but my question can i color an odd ball media events on a track different than the rest?

yep. in prefs>appearance>media>tint media items backgroud if you uncheck the first and check the second you should have it

Right-click the clip >> Item and take colours >> Set item(s) to custom colour
