Ok, you said that your VCDs aren't running correctly on your computer, but run correctly on your stand alone player... Well, what program are you using to play your VCDs? (Psst, cross posting, even with a reason like the first line in your post still is against forum rules. Avoid it or you could get striked)

Thanks for your replies. Will not post to more than one Forum again. Just getting desparate I guess and mmisssed that on the rules. It makes sense. Sounds like everyone thinks the problem is DMA may not be turned on. I guess I am not sure how to tell this in Windows XP. Also, I have tried both PowerDVD and WidDVD. Problem occurred using both. I may try replacing my Lite-On CDBurner with a Cendyne and see if that helps. Thanks again for you responses. DVD2SVCD and the Doom9 Forum are both great. Thanks again and Merry Christmas to all.

... if DMA is on in WinXP: go tro the control panel/ system/ device manager(on the hardware tab) / IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller right click primary or secondary IDE Bus and click Properties there you will see if DMA is generally switched on for the device and what the computer is actually using! regards steVe

Checked ATAPI as you suggested. One is on DMA Channel 5 and the other is on DMA Channel 2. I now believe that the problem has to do with Windows XP since I disconnected my hard drive and installed Win98SE on the connected drive with Powerquest and it played fine (see post on the PC Hardware Thread/Forum. I have posted this problem on the PC Hardware Thread. Don't want to violate the double posting rule any more. If you have any more ideas, please post there. Thank you all for your responses. Thanks to your help this matter has been resolved. It appeared to be a DMA problem. Thank you for your help.
