what G4 to buy

I am in the process of acquiring a fine digi 001 with host computer. In the threads on this forum I got convinced of hosting it on an Apple, G4. I can now buy one G4, "old, previous, early" (that was the salesperson talking) model with 350 MHZ for over $1500 less than a "new, real" G4 with 450 MHZ. What is wisdom? I do not have all the money I want. Is $1500 worth the jump? thanx...

I would just buy the cheapest new mac, with no options at all (I got the modem though..). Try for a good price/service. Don't worry about a second HD until you see you need it (I've never needed one, and I've been doing 24 tracks). Then get some ram (a 256Megs is good...). try for price. to ask for vendors reputation.
