Midi-learn track and transport controls?

I have a few miscellaneous midi controllers kicking around and I wanted to set one up to control the track and transport panels. Is this possible? Ideally I could map a midi command to the mute/solo buttons on each track, for playing, recording, etc. I see that some controllers can do this automatically (like the Presonus FaderPort) but I don't have one of those..
