The only way anyone could legally make "backups" or transfer film/tape to DVD would be to have the customer prove he owns the original. This is usually done (by licensed post-production houses) by presenting the original. To just market "backups" to the public at large is plain BS. As for reporting to the MPAA, I would do it too. Even though there is no love for them or the DMCA, blatant copyright infringers deserve this. It also states clearly where we stand on the issue. It is especially fitting in this case, since the source is analog.
