Reading the various posts I don't see an immediate solution to this problem hence the new post. To date I have been using VDub on my VHS captures to do the actual capturing and then to browse through the captured file to select the appropriate I-Frames for my chapter points for authoring purposes. To do this, I need both video and audio playback so that I can nail the exact point for the chapter (frame number) which vdub handles very well when the audio is simple MPEG-1 or WAV format. I now have a standard DVD source which I wish to modify as it does not have chapter points in the original. I have first merged the main Titleset into a single vob file (Video+ac3 Audio streams). Now I want to feed this file to Vdub and do the same Video+Audio browsing to select my I-Frame chapter points. It appears that neither Vdubmod or Vdub MPEG versions will playback the ac3 sound file so I cannot do my browsing. So my question is - 1. Is there a way of getting vdubmod or vdub MPEG versions to playback ac3 format audio? 2. Is there an alternative player that I can use which supports ac3 sound but also gives me I-Frame / Frame number browsing functionality?
