I done a search and haven't really found a suitable answer. I have a project recorded at 110 BPM. I'd like to change the playback tempo to 130 BPM about 1/2 way through. How do I do this?

Place the edit cursor at the place in the song you need the tempo change. Right click then "Insert time signature marker". Choose your time signature and tempo ;) This is why I edited the menu and now it says only "Time Signature/Tempo Change". Can't miss it.

Set the timebase of your project to Time or Beats (position only) (in Project Settings). Or, select all your audio tracks, and set THEIR timebase to Time or Beats (position only). You do that in Track menu.

Adjust your file/project settings - timebase for items/envelopes/markers to beats (position) or beats (position, length, rate). *damn, too slow :)*

Nope, if he leaves on "Beats (position, length, rate)", then all the audio will get timestretched when he inserts a tempo change!

You'll need to check the Timebase for the audio clips: -- F2 -- change the Item timebase to "Beats (position, rate, length)" For new projects you can select that timebase in the project Settings (and save it as the Default Project Settings. Have a look at Sections 8.10 and 8.12 in the User Guide. ------------- Even slower !

Hm, true, didn't read it that way, I suppose. If he has pre-recorded audio, though, that's not gonna sound good. Because stretched audio is not gonna fall into the tempo change correctly. He will need to split all audio items up to the point of tempo change, then deselect everything, then insert tempo change with only items to the right of the edit cursor selected!

that is true. He'll have to split at the change. all depends on what he's trying to achieve I guess.

Correction on my behalf. Place the edit cursor where you wish the tempo change. Now split (normal split) all audio items (except drums!). I hope all your audio tracks have ticked "Preserve pitch when changing rate" in their properties. If not, remedy it. Now, your project timebase has to be "Beats (position, length, rate)", as I was corrected. After the split, deselect all items, then select all items to the RIGHT of the edit cursor. Now insert tempo change, and it should work.

You can also make it into a macro, so you can do it with one keypress if you want :) * SWS: Save current track selection * Track: Select all tracks * Track: Set track timebase to Beats (position, length, rate) * Item: Split item(s) at edit cursor (select right) * Markers: Insert time signature/tempo change marker at edit cursor * SWS: Restore saved track selection * Item: Unselect all items.
