First of all, I'm not sure how to do this is Reaper 3, but I have seen a tutorial. I've tried that tutorial without success. Is there anything new in Reaper 4 that makes it easier to Quantize audio?

Although the first method is quicker, I find the second one to be more effective. I usually slip edit, then after the edits I select every item and do a small crossfade. If I hear something really strange I'll fix it, but this usually works very well for me.
Have you seen my video? Its pretty much like Adams... I would say the easiest way to quantize drums is to learn how to do it manually. By the time you do 2-4 bars at a time, listen to make sure its right, Undo and loosen splits, try again and so on.. you might as well have manually edited the tracks. Same thing goes for BeatDetective in Pro Tools and any other auto quantize thing unless its Midi. I manually edited a live performance the other day recorded at my venue.
