hi reapers, could we please have the enhancement to route directly, not via sends/recieves? reason i`m asking is, that the send section in themixer gets cluttered extremly fast, thus the overview is really lacking ... i.e. if i have hypersonic set up to it`s 16 stereo outputs, the channel on which hypersonic is on is cluttered with 16 send slots, and i have not even added any fx sends to it ... instead of having to deal with the send slots for track routings, i`d like to have a conventional drop down menue with the tracks/outputs listed in, which are multiple tickable ... so when i.e. track 1 should be output on track 2, all i`d do is drop down the menue on track 1, tick track 2 and voila, the output of track 1 goes directly to track 2, without the need of adding a send ... and if i would want to output track 1 to track 2 and 3, just add that via ticking track 3 on track 1`s output dropdown menue ... that applies also to the masterchannel ... that would improove the workflow and the overview a lot, and it would put one in the position to being able to keep the mixer smaller but still having maximum overview, as the output routing isn`t cluttering the send slots/mixerchannel. also that way you could easier identify what goes where, as then the sends could be used to what they`re for mainly: for fx routing ... btw, before anyone moans: i would _add_ that to reaper, so the old behaviour would be untouched, and those who like to work the way it is up to now, simply can stick to it ...
darkstar, i know that ... the main thing i was about is, that the sends are created on the respective channel in the mixer, and that clutters the send slot section ... i`d like to see sends only when doing fx sends mainly, the output of tracks to another track or a hw output i`d like to have in a seperate view ... or differently spoken, sends in the send section, outputs in a dedicated output section, that are not visually represented by the send section, but it`s own output section ... just like in so many other sequencers ...there`s a reason it is done this way in most other sequencers ... understand what i mean (ahh, my english)? :)

This is an interesting idea with wider repercussions than hardware output assignment. For one, the Master Send or Parent Send could live there too, easily removed and replaced just like sends or fx are. Like this:

if you check my mockup, you can see there are no level settings for those outs. imho this "send-type" output would be cool, since its easy to drag-n-drop to other tracks (copy/move) and it wouldnt require a new "zone" on the mixer. but its just an idea. oh, did you see the I/O button on Trk6 in my mockup? thats supposed to show that there is NO Master/Parent send connection. i'd find that extemely handy - i dont really like that we have to open the I/O dialog for that to check/uncheck. i know there is an action for that - but we have no visual indicator on the MCP/TCP.
ahh, ok, i did not recognise that these have no lefel knobs, sorry ... but see, that`s exactly what i was about: - you have to really look closely to identify if it`s a send or an output assignent ... - iigtc, it`s still in the send view, thus cluttering the sends sections overview unnecessarily ... if we`d seperate that, but still have it stylewise viewable like the sends section, it would make the mixer grow unnecessarily, especially when asiigning multiple outputs ... that`s why i`d like to have a dropdown with ticks for the direct output assignments, as it would be not affecting the mixers size, exept the one added row, in which you`d have to click to make/see output assignments ...
