problem is, cpu/motherboard technology has come a long way in 8 years, it's unlikely win2k is optimized for any kind of modern, high-memory, multicore hardware. plus driver support etc. xp sp3 is probably the best way to go.

I used win2k until last week without any problem, it is as stable and as powerful than my current xp setup. I jumped to xp for software technlogies, like, in fact, specially network application. but musicaly speaking, I was very satisfied from win2000.

I was using Windows 2000 for many years although I was not into recording at the time. But I loved it. It was rock solid and stable throughout. Problem is it is practically impossible to find a motherboard now that will still run it.
