I just got the Silence of the Lambs DVD and....

Its the R1 special edition version and the quality is simply aweful. First, there's mpeg artifacts galore. In dark scenes, the dark areas are just a dance of grey and black macroblocks. Two, its blurry, and in areas of some scenes it looks like it was run through a watercolor filter. Also its VERY noisy, film artifacts are common. Is this what others experienced with this dvd, or did I just get one from a bum transfer?

Yeah, screenshots would be nice. I was thinking about getting that DVD. don't have any problem with the quality, so I don't know. BTW: it can't be one from a "bum transfer". All DVDs are the same, and if yours had physical problems, then it would show up as freezes or nasty errors, not encoding artifacts.
