PII700/198Ram (100)/Gateway Bx2000+/Maxtor system (5400)/Maxtor Audio (7200)/Seagate Barracuda Audio (7200)/ATI 8MB AGP. Frequent crashes when processing audio, coulldn't bounce to disk etc. Then 1. Set Vcache to Min 16158(whatever) and Max the same as recommended on the rme-audio site. 2. Overclocked the PIII to 933MHz - easy on the Gigabyte - couple of dip switches and change to turbo mode. Bingo - solid, no crashes, processes great, burn to disc fine, 24 track audio with a variety of compressors/delays/eqs and 4 D-verbs. Maybe my PIII was unhappy at 1.65v and just needed the boot up to 1.8volts. Retail heatsink and fan, CPU alarm set to 75 degrees on the motherboard - 6 hours of mixing and burning to disc of a 60 minute album. I think a separate forum for useful tweaks would be a good idea.
