#1. When a track is muted how does reaper handle it? Is it taking up any resources or is it basically ignored (like an archived file in Sonar) #2. I know you can explode takes so that they're all on separate tracks but can you do the opposite? I have a bunch of vocals that I'd like comp and this would be very useful. #3. How crazy can you go on a project? I've got one that's 67 tracks (some are busses) with 25 vts running and my system is starting to freak out a bit. Any suggestions? Antec Solo Tower Case Antec Neo 500 watt quiet Power supply 2GB (2x1GB) Kingston DDR 2 Low latency 800Mhz RAM Memory P5B-VM-SE Motherboard Intel Core2Duo 2MB 1.8Ghz processor two X Seagate Barricuda 250GB 16Mb 7200rpm hard drives latest Reaper, xpsp3 all latest updates. Tascam us1641, latest driver/firmware. #4. Should I have started separate threads for each question? sorry... Thanks.

1. Don't know, someone will though and should be along soon. If you can't wait for that, have a look at the performance meter (ctrl-alt-p by default) and that will tell you the resources being used by each track. 2. Yes. Right click marquee select the items, then right click over one of them and choose "Take", then you get two self-explanatory implode options. If nervous (as I often am) then save your project just before you do this and you can always go back. 3. 67 tracks is quite a lot. I dunno really. I remember being so excited about going to record an album in a 48 track (two 24 track machines synced together) studio in early 90's! 4. Nah, I think you're good here. :)

1. Muted tracks are not being processed by default (you can change that in prefs) and so they are not consuming CPU cycles. Plugins on that track are being held in RAM though. If you want to free CPU *and* RAM, you can "offline" the plugins on the track by Shift+CTRL-clicking on them.

I figured #2 would be possible, it'll really help to know how, thanks so much. --DUH, it's in the same section of the menu as explode takes, stupid me. I fully realize that 67 tracks is a lot, just seeing what the limits are. I'll have to do some bouncing after all. time to start committing anyway right? Any other input from others who have gone there and beyond would be great. Any system tweaks? more ram? I thought reaper would be smart about how it handled it's management, and let you customize it otherwise. This program rules. thanks guys!
