NEW G4 & PT 5.1 LE

Hello friends! I got my new Dual 1 GHz today. The machine works fine but Pro Tools sends me an error if i try to start it via "Classic Mode" in OSX. Configuration: Pro Tools is installed on my old G4 400 HD (8 GB). I connected this HD on the second ide cable upon the Superdrive (i guess the Superdrive is MASTER). OSX is installed on the standard 80 GB HD (first ide cable as MASTER). Errors: In OSX i have access to this old 8 GB volume without any problems but i can`t use this HD as "START VOLUME". As soon as I am defining my old G4 HD as first boot device i will get a blinking "?" at start-up! I tried to switch the jumpers but no success so far. At this point i returned to OSX and used the "Classic Mode". I clicked on the "PT 5.1 Alias on my old G4 HD" and the "Classic Mode" started up. I saw the start-up picture of Pro Tools and then the error: "Unable to create a DAE deck"! No way to start my Pro Tools in classic! No way to use my old HD as start volume! Is it my "new motherboard"(the PCI-card is now on another place)? Will i need to re-install Pro-Tools? What`s wrong? Thnx much for your help EddyG4

You have to boot from OS 9. Pro Tools will not work in OS X or Classic mode within OS X: You have a couple of options you could try: Choose OS 9.2.2 on the hard drive that came with your new computer as the startup disk, restart in OS 9, and install Pro Tools on that drive. Or you may be able to update the OS on your previous drive to 9.2.2, which I'm sure is required for the latest G4 to boot. If your previous drive does not have Mac OS 9.2.2 on it that may be why you can't select it as the boot drive. No guarantees that either will work though, as the new G4's have not yet been qualified: See this DUC topic as well:

Hello! I haven`t checked the chip-number but my digi001 works. Thnx for help and I hope that Digidesign is able to fix this problem with special digi-cards for all other musician. I know you will do your best! EddyG4

PTle is not OSX compatible, period. Runnign in classic mode of OSX is still running in OSX. Check the system requirements of PTle from the Digidesign site.
