I remember there was a lot of heat from the cat on my old mkI 960 24v. If you look in the owners manual, you are warned not to park on tall dry grass - I wonder how they found out about that? :D

I did suspect that the cat was the culprit,however,even after an extended high speed run (70 mph orfitzer) my 850 never seems hot. There cannot be too much wrong with the 965,as I have just completed a consumption test.20.33 mpg,and thats around Birmingham,rarely get into top gear. Mike

Hi, I can vouch for the fact that it does get hot under there. Both my 940 and V90 can be like an oven underneath. Probably why they have heat shields above the exhaust pipe and cat.. Des. . . ;)
