s40 no start 

hi im new this site, hello to all the members. plse can u help me with a fault on s40 2.0 petrol the car cranks, plugs firing, fuel being injected but no go, any advice appreciated.:

not knowing more about the year or vin number, it is hard to say. i attached a bulliten for installing a vent valve for the intake system. i have seen and what happens, on this vehicle, when you shut the vehicle off, exhaust gasses from the exhaust stay in the manifold for a prolonged period of time. when you start the vehicle, these gasses get "gulped" into the intake. the "spent" gasses contain exhaust hydrocarbons and very little oxygen. this is not sufficient enough to start combustion and as a result the engine gets somewhat flooded and even harder to start. just a possibility.

Or could it be as simple as the immobilser? maybe your chip in the key or the antenna is acting up?

silly me! 98 model, detailed inspection has revealed very low compressions on all cylinders,so headscoming off now, whats more worrying and confusing it happened after parking up over night.

did you try doing a wet compression test? if the fuel injectors are leaking down, it could wash the oil off of the rings and cause low readings.
