OBD ii Code Reader

Hi guys, My younger brother managed to get a hold of a code reader which i plugged into my X reg C70 T5 tonight. The reader itself was called - CCR SUPER , It also had CAN-CAPABLE , RW MOTORTEC EOBD/OBD 2 written on it. I have had a slight misfire problem now for about 2/3 months when first started in the morning for approx 15/30 secs and a bit of grey/black smoke. Once it clears its fine for the rest of the day. I have replaced the plugs and also the injectors with genuine volvo parts but still no joy! Here is a link to my previous thread. When i plugged the reader into the car it came up stating that there were no faults stored in the car. My question is this - Is this code reader the right one for my car and does the engine/warning light have to be on in order to pick up any codes stored as i have never had any warning lights on? Ive been looking at one of these for my S60 D5 but not sure it will work on a 2002 D5... anyone able to shed some light ? Cheers

Look for an OBDII ELM chipset based interface, you can use this with various software packages.

Doh, you're absolutely right, only upto '97.

i have a elm one think its a 327 usb interface works brill with the grandvitara thats obd11 as far as i kno for volvo there on there own software but like my elm there is loads of different software for it
